Family: Caprifoliaceae

Deciduous shrub, size group 5

Native range: China and Japan

Uses: Border, specimen, screen

Not drought tolerant

Leaf:
Opposite with axillary buds creating a double row of flowers
Underside of leaf and spring twigs tomentose
Naked leaf buds
Medium to deep green
Dentate to serrate margins
Leaf base, cuneate to rounded
Touch of burgundy

Petiole is green and pubescent

Sensitive to summer drought
Borers can cause serious damage

Pruning is seldom necessary and should be minimized to maintain the graceful horizontal branching habit.

Cultivars:
'Shoshoni' : very low growing
'Summer Snowflake' : repeated summer flowering
'Wantanabe' : similar to snowflake
