Dark green, fine textured
Flowers: small, purple, NOT really showy
Cultivar 'Leucantha' has white flowers in axillary racemes
Fruits: Purplish pods open to show black seeds
Twigs rough, glabrous (not pubescent)
No serious pests
Likes full sun
